Obama Beads

Information on Obama Beads:

Our mission is to provide a living wage to women in Uganda while having them create artistic and useful souvenirs of Barack Obama’s historic 2008 campaign.

The beads you see on this site are made by a group of women who call themselves “Mama Kazi” which means “women at work” in Swahili. Beautiful, aren’t they? The Ugandan women who craft these beads are able to keep their families from living in poverty. Eventually, we plan to employ hundreds of women in this process of practicing humanitarian principles and empowering women in a developing nation.

Each Obama Bead is one-of-a-kind in pattern and color. Obama Beads are limited edition pieces and hopefully will hold a collectible value from an historic event in our country. At the end of President Obama’s campaign we were given 26oo pounds of literature to recycle, the rest is history.

This venture is our dream. It combines our passion for promoting international friendship with a business success plan that will help solve multiple social problems.

~ Celebrating an historic event that reinforces our collective goals of unity, hope, and peace.

We hope you will join us in supporting these goals! Please consider purchasing Obama Beads  made by women of Kwetu Afrika
