SCHOLARSHIPS and GRANTS
- Emmanuel Free Methodist Church, Janesville, WI
- St. Paul Lutheran School, Janesville Scholarship -$280 raised by students during one Wednesday chapel service towards the disadvantaged students of Uganda. This money has been sent over to Hope Institute Uganda through the Emmanuel Free Methodist Church to the Uganda counterpart Light and Life Church towards educating one student. Since, the Hope Institute is in its infancy, the administrations of the funds are channeled through an established church Infrastructure to meet a pressing education need. The student named Moses, will be going to school this semester.
- Rod and Rosie Carlson Scholarship - This child, Moses is about 12 years old now and until recently did not go to school because his mother died and he had an abscent father which could not afford to pay his tuition. The Hope Institute has taken up the responsibility to cover his tuition while the child lives with his father and step mother, in Jinja, Uganda. He will continue to receive mentoring from the Light and Life Church. We do believe that education is one of the keys to a better future. We will continue to do what we have been doing over the past 15-20 years, provide financial assistance to young men and women so they can complete their basic education. For those who aspire for graduate degrees or medical schools, we will guide them and provide them with information about scholarships and the admission procedures for schools world wide.
- Rotary Grant - We recently received an International Grant from Rotary International Foundation for about $13,000 for elementary education for 50 children who have dropped out of school due to numerous reasons. These kids reside in the slums of Masese, Jinja and their families were either displaced by the war in Northern Uganda or parents are to poor to afford education for about $50 dollars a year. Our goal is to keep them in school and provide them with direction through our mentoring program.
Long term vision: We will continue working with the Hope Africa University in Burundi, a free Methodist college that offers a faith based education. We resonate with their vision of equipping young African men and women into future leaders. We will direct our students there.

HIU Mentoring
We also have 5 students that we help in numerous ways. This is a dream come true for most of these young men. Two of our students are medical students, who always wanted to become doctors but had no way of reaching their dream. The other two (supported by Emmanuel Free Methodist Church, Janesville) are in bible school and law school. The HOPE INSTITUTE has helped with fees, mentoring and academic advising to all five.
Miriam Twongo (26), our newest recruit is a first year medical student. She always dreamed of becoming a doctor but could not get into any school in Uganda. We directed her to HAU and was admitted on her first attempt on applying.
The Hope Institute hopes to help more young men and women realize their dreams. If you would like to receive more information on how you can help, contact us by mail, phone or email.
